Behind the Scenes
In this interview, Thomas McClaskie, Børn's President and Creative Director, shows us that he is a man of many surprises. Born in London, Ohio on a farm where he helped raise his younger brothers, Tom spent his Sundays at his father's Ministry. A graduate of Ohio State, and a huge Buckeyes fan, Tom began his career as a school teacher, then was lured into the shoe business where his eye for design and his business savvy were quickly uncovered. He has launched and led many shoe brands to success. Just when he thought he would retire in his late 40's, he started working with Børn, which has become a very beloved shoe brand in the business. His signature bow tie, his uncensored passion for design and for business, and his love of Porsches, music and sports are what make Tom a one-of-a kind. Not too many people mess with "Tommy Mack," and we like it that way.
